Summer Camps for STEM
Dive into discovery with the STEM Academies at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska! Our programs are designed to spark curiosity and foster a love for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in young minds.
Each STEM Academy is tailored to different age groups and tackles unique STEM topics through interactive, hands-on learning experiences. From engaging day camps to immersive overnight stays, our camps are structured to maximize learning and fun in a supportive and enriching environment. Under the guidance of experienced educators and using state-of-the-art technology and resources, campers will take on challenges that encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Be A Physicist Summer STEM Academy
July 29 – Aug 2, 2024, 9:30 am – 3:30 pm
$375
Daily Drop-Off at 9:15am, Pick-Up at 3:30pm, (Friday pick-up at 1pm)
Parents bring bagged lunches
Students will explore basic concepts of physics and engineering, roleplaying careers such as Accident Investigator, Laser Scientist, Material Scientist, Power Plant Engineer, Sound Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Environmental Engineer, and Biomedical Engineer. They will also investigate principles of light and energy, roller coaster physics, magnetic slime, and gravity.
CSI Forensic Sciences Summer STEM Academy
June 3 – 7, 2024, 9:30 am – 3:30 pm
Day Academy $475, lunch will be provided
Day Academy, Daily Drop-Off at 9:15 am, Pick-Up at 3:30pm, (Friday pick-up at 1pm)
Overnight Academy $650
Drop off Monday at 9:15 am, Pick-up Friday at 1pm
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided
Parents will need to provide overnight supplies (i.e. toilettes, pillow, sleeping bag, list will be provided)
During this academy at the Challenger Center students will unravel mysteries and collect evidence as they conduct several investigations through hands-on stem activities. Interact with experts in the field who will provide an insider’s view and learn cutting-edge techniques to solve cases. We will also examine the exciting careers that are available in this field.
We hold the right to cancel the overnight option at any time if minimum registrations are not met.
Civil Air Patrol’s Aerospace Summer STEM Academy
July 15 – July 19, 2024, 9:30 am – 3:30 pm
$450

The Aerospace Education Excellence (AEX) program brings hands-on aviation and space-related activities from the Civil Air Patrol to students. Campers will learn about Earth and the space around them. They will explore activities revealing the layers of the atmosphere around and on our planet. Hands-on discovery will inspire campers to study eruptions, weather, space travel, planets, and lunar characteristics and how these strange phenomena affect our lives and space missions. Upon completion, students will receive a Civil Air Patrol certificate.
